The response with an action potential (the "triangular" digital (all or none) signal to be transported along the nerve fibre) occurs at random with a probability of occurrence dependent upon the intensity of the stimulus. Here, the response occurs five times out of eight, i.e. with a response probability of about .6. If an action potential occurs, then it is also not possible to predict the exact moment of its occurrence. Scales: Horizontal: Time 1 ms, Vertical: Intensity 50 mV. |

Het optreden van de reactie met een actiepotentiaal, het "driehoekige" digitale alles-of-niets signaal dat over de zenuwvezel verder wordt getransporteerd, kan niet worden voorspeld, maar de kans van optreden hangt samen met de intensiteit van de stimulus. Hier is de kans op een respons ongeveer 5 op 8, dus circa 0,6. Wanneer een actiepotentiaal optreedt blijkt het moment van optreden ook onvoorspelbaar te zijn. Schalen: Tijd horizontaal: 1 ms, Intensiteit vertikaal: 50 mV. |
